Sts. Philip and James, Apostles
May 3, 2017

Philip was from Bethsaida and was among the first disciples called by Jesus.  James was the son of Alphaeus and cousin or 'brother of the Lord" and was surnamed "the Less" or "the Just" for his piety.  He was the leader of the Jerusalem Church and an Epistle is attributed to him.

Philip is the patron of Uruguay.  James is the patron of the dying.  Both saints are mentioned in the Roman Canon.
